At this clinical site, I was able to see many complex cases. This helped build my critical thinking skills as a nurse practitioner rather than as a nurse. I also learned the importance of active listening at this clinical site.

I was able to see patients independently at this clinical site. There was a high number of pediatric patients per day that I got to see. This helped build my confidence with this population as I have not had much experience with the pediatric population. 

This clinical site allowed me to care for patients once they were being admitted to the hospital. I was able to assist with the admission process as well as participate in rounding. This clinical site helped me with my time management and prioritization skills. 

I was able to observe and assist in knee arthroscopes, total knee replacements, and shoulder replacements during this rotation. I was also able to inject knee joints. I saw 18-24 patients per day with the majority of patients there with complaints of knee pain. 

I was able to see every patient independently during this rotation. I was able to complete several skills including splinting, stitches, wound care, and staples. I saw 8-11 patients per day which included several pediatric patients per day. 

During this rotation I learned a lot about hormone replacement therapy. The majority of patients were middle aged women experiencing menopause. I also learned a lot about different skin lesions and how to identify concerning areas for biopsy.
